MAY THE ANCESTORS BE PLEASED: LIBATIONS FOR LIBERATION
Libation is an ancient African cultural ritual. Practiced throughout the continent, libation is necessary and moving, while simultaneously, powerful and inspiring. Mwalimu Van Putten has performed libations at academic and cultural conferences, protest marches, Kwanzaa programs and, most notably, in enslavement dungeons in Ghana, Tanzania and Senegal. Her collection of original libations teach history, and gives homage to our ancestors majestically. Learn. Remember. Honor.
“Melodye Micere Van Putten has dedicated her life to building community using the study of history. She is highly creative, multifacted person who cares deeply about ensuring that all communities have access to global Black history and its intellectually stimulating and liberating experience.”

DEEPLY PERSONAL: MUSINGS IN SHORT STORIES AND POETRY
With a descriptive title, Van Putten’s twelfth book shares her passion for history, culture, education and honoring the ancestors… She also poses questions that are worthy of contemplation towards meaningful action. Read. Think. Act accordingly.
“Deeply Personal: Musings in Short Stories and Poetry is enjoyable to read as the writing maintains a lyrical, song-like quality even in prose. This does not prevent one from thinking about the issues it presents…”
